We first saw the trailer for Mission Impossible 4 a few months ago. During the opening scenes of the trailer, it was pretty clear that what we were seeing was the next Mission Impossible film. However right around the 50 second mark, we heard and saw something that made us seriously second guess.
“Nope – this is not MI4, it can’t be. It’s a theatrical version of Call Of Duty.” Having seen the Call Of Duty Black Ops trailer, it was absolutely impossible that it could be anything else. The similarities were uncanny. Everything from the way the trailer was cut, the transitions between the action scenes, the slow-motion and of course, the use of the exact same part of the song “Won’t Back Down” by Enimem. When the MI theme song kicked back in after that we were in shock. How could this be? How could they allow this?
Those questions have remained unanswered. Whoever was responsible for putting that part of the trailer together has absolutely no excuse for directly copying the Call of Duty trailer. It would be hard to convince even OJ’s jury that they weren’t guilty of flagrant plagiarism.
Try this for fun: pause the Black Ops trailer at 0:08 seconds, play the MI4 trailer and at 1:02, play the black ops trailer and watch them side by side.
