In one word, Sucker Punch is weird. The story itself doesn’t make much sense at all but it’s really just an excuse to show scantily clad girls kicking ass in a fantasy world. So if that’s your thing, well, you will like the movie. And if you like to listen to female rockers singing while watching scantily clad girls kicking ass, you will love the movie. The trailer did make our top 10 list of songs used in movies for 2010:

The music in the film is appropriate, mostly heavier rock songs with lead female vocals. You will also notice that there are also a lot of covers in the soundtrack including songs originally by The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, The Pixies, etc. It’s useless to try and compare these to the original songs and criticize the movie for using them. The original versions would have been completely out of place and would have given it a different feel altogether. ‘Where is My Mind’ by The Pixies belongs to Fight Club anyways. Despite not having particularly enjoyed the movie, it did not try to be something it wasn’t either through the story or the music they used. On a more positive note, the Queen mash-up was an interesting song for the Mayor’s arrival.
