Here are the songs featured in the trailer for Crazy Stupid Love featuring Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore and Marise Tomei. The trailer is a great example of how songs, by their melody and lyrics, can help you understand the plot of a story in a short time. The four songs in the trailer tell the story of Cal’s (Steve Carell’s) evolution. The first song sets the somber mood of his break-up. The second, by The Cure, is the build-up to his comeback while the third by Wale and Lady Gaga completes it. The fourth song by Muse is where the main part of the story develops and leaves us to wonder what happens to the new Cal. The film is due out at the end of July 2011.

Plays from 0:10 to 0:54
The first song in the trailer has a small connection to Ryan Gosling as Grizzly Bear was also prominently featured on Blue Valentine released in 2010. This song kicks off the trailer.

“Two Weeks”
- Grizzly Bear

Plays from 0:58 to 1:20
A little transition song by The Cure.

“Close To Me”
- The Cure

Plays from 1:21 to 1:33
Heard briefly in the trailer for about 10 seconds, you hear Lady Gaga’s part where she sounds bizarrely like M.I.A.

“Chillin”
- Wale feat. Lady Gaga

Plays from 1:35 to 2:30
The song that carries the trailer the most is the one that plays during the last minute. The song is “Starlight” by Muse from their “Supermassive Black Hole” album.

“Starlight”
- Muse
